India: Small-Scale Producer Risk Profile

Overview

This analysis draws on a survey of over 2,000 farming households across Maharashtra, India’s second most populous state. We examine how small-scale producers perceive and act on climate risk, how they seek and receive weather and agricultural advisory information, and how technology adoption unfolds — and how these dynamics vary by gender and heterogeneity across agro-ecological zones and other key demographics.

Established with local partners MAVIM (Women’s Development Corporation of Maharashtra) and Academy of Management Studies (AMS).

Fieldwork & data collection

Household survey completed in 2034 households with paired male and female respondents that allow within-household comparison, and market visits completed across 4 districts of Maharashtra.
